Electronic instruments
The LinnStrument – an electronic instrument that can be played through software available on a tablet or iPad.
The OHMI Trust recommends a string teacher with an interest in new technology as the best teacher for the LinnStrument, and are happy to act in an advisory capacity to help locate suitable teachers and provide some support in the learning process for both student and teacher. |
Artiphon – an entry level solution for anyone interested in starting out on a guitar/ukulele/violin.
This works exclusively through an iPad/iPhone but offers a 'tap' method so notes can be selected and sounds produced with just one hand. The Artiphon is ideal for those who are entering whole class instrument tuition on one of the instruments above. |
Chapman Stick – this require a stereo input amp (30W recommended) and is played like a guitar.
|
CMPSR - a joystick based instrument
More information about this instrument can be seen here. |
The instrument hire scheme is designed to overcome the financial barriers the physically disabled face in accessing music-making. Instrument hire is charged at a maximum of 15% of the retail value of the instrument for a one-year rental.
The cost breakdown is available in the Instrument Hire Scheme cost breakdown. Anyone taking an instrument/equipment from the OHMI Trust must sign a hire agreement form and pay postage and packaging for the instrument before it will be sent out. |
Donate to OHMIThere are so many disabled people who are desperate to play music with their peers. We can help to make that happen – but we can only do that with the wonderful support of our funders and donors.
As our instruments have to be hand-made by experts, they can only be produced in small numbers and are therefore expensive. Every little really does help.
